Dem Gator Guys an Gals shure kin put on a great match.

Wall Dem Gober Twins an I went to Loozyanna fer the Thibodaux Southern Regional ICORE match.  We leff an went through Longview, Texas on the way down to the match.  Found out sumthin bout Longview.  It is the only city in the United States that is four blocks wide an twentyseven miles long.  An the stoplights have sensors in the road sos the light can tell when a car comes close an change the light to green sos you can go through…unless you are a driven a car with Oklahoma tags, then it will be shur to make it turn red.  An there isa light every two blocks.  We saw all that wuz wurth seein in Longview.  One is I twentyfive, the other wuz Longview..in your rearview mirror.  We made it into Thibodaux late Friday sos we missed the Mudbug Feast Denise Fox had arranged.  I heared that Cliff gotta present from Pat DeBerrry (Bwanna Sixgun),  Dem Missippi boys shur do like their football.  Maybe you got to see Cliff’s present at the match, he wore it with pride… wa’ll as much pride as Cliff had anysway.

First thang in the mornin we met our squad.  Thar was Scooter (Scott Jacob), Prettyshirt Rick (Miller), Roger Ruger (Reid), the Gober Boys, John an Chris,  Mike (Techno) Hillyer, and the Bowling Team,, (the Surgis, David, Paul, Arron an Louis)

On the very first stage set the tone fer me… Shooter Ready, Standby, Beep,  bang, bang, click, click, click, click, bang, bang.  I could tell rat off that I wuzn’t goin to take home the Caddalack sos I might as well have fun.  Luckily it wuz the steel challenge stage an only added four or five seconds to my overall times and by the time I got to tha las strang my revo started wurkin agin.  I think Scott Womack worked on my gun whilst I wuz a gabbin with someone.  The only highpoint of the four shot stage wuz the smoking reload that David Surgi hit.  Wa’ll it wuzn’t really fast nor smoking, but it wuz a reload.

Stage two.  The Classifier.  I don’t know how Prettyshirt Rick does it.  But he manages to have / create gun problems on the classifier.  He never seems to be able to move up in class.  As the Buzzer goes off Rick aims at the first target, then smiles, giggles. Then turns his dot on an shoots a smokin run.  It wuz three double stacks of the paper targets spread way out.  One hit each, Reload.. One hit each, Reload…you git the pikshur an when you finished you hafta have four hits on all the paper.  Roger asked the Ro iffin he’d jes slap him on the head iffin he wuzza gonna to shoot more than he wuz sposed to.  The RO declined but we promised to laff real loud after his third extra shot.  Wa’ll Roger counted real good sos we couldn’t laff..much.

Stage three.  Always does Steel.  Five real fast hits on a Big Steel Plate.  Scooter got that done.  Get to the next spot an hit the three paper targets or the five steel poppers.  Scooter went back an forth on this part.  Move to a winder an knockdown five steel plates on a rack.  Scooter made it to the winder an hit all five steel plates.  Did you notice that the stage description sayed “Knockdown” the steel plates.  Scooter musta missed that part.  He went to the other winder an knocked down them five plates thar.  Not to pick on Scott but when he saw his steel plate still up he came walkin back kickin his lower lip.  An I got the video.

Stage four   Three Pairs.  That’ll git you shot whar I play cards..

Simple Stage We had a Barricade with a port in it an two targets on one side, two targets on tother side, an two targets in the middle.  Now instead of two hits each, we had to count to three on each target.  I had my shoes off by the time I got through the port.   Scott musta got out of IPSC mode kaws he turned in a less than a sixteen second run.

Stage Five  Oh Snap.  You started offa holdin on the barricade wiff two paper targets on the rat side an that wuz all you could see until you leff.  Barrels an walls kep you from seein more than two targets at a time.  Roger Reed came up with a good plan for the six shooters, which wuz good kaws that wuz whut he wuza shootin.  He jes glided through the stages shootin an movin at the same time.  Thar wuz thirteen paper an two steel targets strewn all about the place an ole Roge wuz as smooth as the wave in a slop bucket.

Stage Six.  Bases Loaded.  You started with a baseball bat as if you were agonna talk to the drunken neighbors.  Prettyshirt Rick wuz up an ready.  On the beep he scampered, not run but scampered to third base.  Must be a T league thang.  From the leff side he took two middle targets then two targets for the rat side.  Moved to the middle an took the three targets on the leff side.  He went to the rat an went fer a reload.  It wouldn’t go in sos he pushed real hard.  Still didn’t go so he beat it out an hit a nice reload an took the remainin middle an rat target.  As he wuz unloadin someone from the gallery hollered, “Rick,  this ain’t a classifier”.  He jes turned an sayed, “Oh, it’s not?”

Stage Seven  Side to Side,  You could start on the rat or leff side n it went from Box A hit the two targets thar.  Move to Box B and you had 10 hits, six steel an two papers.  Some fellers shot four from Box A an reloaded sos they could take eight shots an Reload for the one paper target an carry six over to the Box C so they could take on the five hits with two swangers.  It sounded lak a good plan.  Then it went to the ten hits from box D an back to the four hits on Box E.  Sometimes it is good to think outside the box, but Roger Reid knows it is not good to shoot outside of the box.  The RO, Ed Krieger, wuza throwin up fingers as fast as Roger cold pull the trigger.  I wuza feared Ed would hafta take off his shoes pretty quick.

Stage Eight.  Any View Will Do.  Or Whar are dem dang targets.  You started with your revo loaded an on the barrel.  Then you picked it up an shot whut you could see.  Targets were hid behind walls an winders.  My plan wuz simple,  I wuza shootin, bullets a flyin forward an brass a commin out the back an when I finished I noticed that I had too many rounds leff in my moonclip.  Between the giggles the RO ,Joe Touchton, sayed “You could show clear IF!!!!! You are done.  The tone of the big IF!! An too many rounds leff in my moonclip oughta tole me sumthin.  Twenty seconds in penalties The rest of the squad wuz jes smiling an waving.  But Tony Phan tolt me he felt my pain.  I asked Joe who thunk up this stage.  Joe jes smiled an sayed he did not know but would find out an give him my compliments, That wuzn’t whut I wonted to give him.

Stage 9 Shooters choice.  Started in the box when the buzzer goes off you ferget the plan,  Two hits each on two targets to the rat an one popper to the leff.  Then go through the door an when I git through the door thar is some stuff to shoot at I went brain dead.  I remember stompin on a big ole box which gota swanger a swangin ana flopper a floppin.  Then three targets I could see an four I couldn’t, it wuzn’t purty but shor wuz fun.

Stage 10.  Annies Standards.  Thirty shots in Thirty seconds iffin you could do it.  I see by the scores a bunch of us couldn’t.  Six from twentyfive in Ten,  Twelve from 10 in ten,  An twelve more from four in ten.  Oh yea the lass one wuz strong then weak handed.

All in all I had a great time gittn to see everyone even Loyd.  Well better git I hears the cows a mooin.  Later tater.
